Where We Are

I don't know about sculpting, but I do know about building.

If you make a foundation and it's all fucked up, the whole building is fucked up. If you build on top of it, it's then too late to change it without requiring more time and money and work.

People are allowed to be upset, just like you are within your rights to explain to use, yet again, how alpha works. And then we can sit here and, yet again, explain that the main issue is that we are not being understood or listened too. We're not asking for solutions right now, we have already proposed a bazillion solutions to the most common problems, we are asking for someone to say "I get it." But we are not getting that, we're getting "Don't worry about it. It's alpha."

There is no consensus that will please everyone, but with katamaris that are larger then some of the official forums, you would think that there would have been a bit more communication ohhh... 6 months ago maybe? The community had to throw a HUGE hissy fit in order to get a response, and the response was a hand wave. And that was just about one issue.

Sometimes children throw temper tantrums, or teenagers rebel, simply for the attention of their parents. I feel like the community is a teenager and CIG is the parent. Sure, the parent probably knows best, but if you never bother to sit down and have a frank discussion with your kid, their going to continue to act up or at the very least they are not going to get it.

Does this excuse the community's behavior? No, of course not, we are after all a rabid mob of people who all want the same thing but can't agree on what that is. We often act like horrible teenagers. But that doesn't change the fact that some honest discussions wouldn't help things. We did after all, practically give them $80 million dollars and haven't gotten the invest in full return yet.

So, please, stop with the 'it's alpha' posts. We already know. Just because you are completely and utterly content with things doesn't mean everyone else is. Some people like to call it a vocal minority and maybe it is. I have no idea. But I feel like we could have avoided a shit ton of drama if you put someone from INN, or SQB, Beer, or one of the other dozen well known members of this community and give them 30 minutes talking to a designer to bring up a few issues.

Instead we have this. Rage posts, huge ass topics and katamaris, videos like CGPepper's, posts like this saying it's still alpha, posts comparing this development to other developments, etc. We have this huge clusterfuck.

If someone had taken thirty god damn minutes to give us their end goal of what things would look like, it wouldn't be so chaotic. Right now, we have no idea what combat will look like in SC. Absolutely none. Apparently some ships won't even be flown manually, and the 3-5 man crew ships will actually fly quite nimbly, and our single seaters (if things stay the way they are) are going to hug the every loving shit out of capital ships. I mean think about it, if you can circle strafe, your best tactic on a capital ship is going to be flying as close as possible to it. Imagine a helicopter flying nap-of-the-earth around a bengal, firing continuously into it. That's what the current flight model will promote for smaller ships to take down bigger ones. It's the only way to prevent turrets from hitting you by giving them the smallest window possible.

Is that how CIG pictures the flight model and combat? I don't think they even know.

24,000 posts on one single topic isn't something that should just simply be ignored. But that's just me.
