Where are the Seattle centrists?

Sound exactly like me before I unplugged from 99% of social media. The voices of the extreme left and extreme right carry so much further in echo chambers like reddit and youtube and facebook. My honest, genuine advice is to unplug as much as possible and you'll find that your average interaction with people who aren't also flailing for attention in the real world will be much more evenhanded and accommodating.

Of course, I also stopped feeling the need to tell everyone what I believed and to put people who disagreed with me on the defensive any time their views came up. I had a pretty big "no bullshit" policy and I let people know it, and it resulted in a lot of ugly interactions. If you can train yourself to skip over twitter poutrage and clickbait, you'll find that - by and large - you'll have way more in common with people than you think.
