Where is the Betrayal? My criticism of Rey'€™s Hero Journey - by pixiestarpilot

JJ and Kasdan sorta phoned it in- the thing was hacked together exposition dialogue and a pause for an attempt at Shakespeare an hour in...that's the truth

The great news is that the general set up was basic enough and the characters well cast and likable enough that you could basically do anything you'd like with VIII

The one really good thing about TFA was that it didn't spend the movie showing us Kylo turn to the dark side- it dropped us into the middle of things already going on -

If things feel unresolved I think it had more to do with the mystery box being thrown in as filler for the insecurity regarding the script

If the story was better, writing was better- we'd know who Rey's parents are, understand more of the tragedy and why Luke went to the Irish club med instead of trying to save the galaxy...

The answer is not a failure to properly understand some incredibly simplistic literary theory...it was just Disney picking a fairly untalented guy to direct and a man who relied on his son to write his half-assed script (Kasdan)

We may not like this reality- but if it makes you upset, then be happy because the person taking over VIII is the polar opposite of everything we've gotten so far and seems to have a good grasp no story and character...
