Where can I buy a gold or silver chain that I can wear? I have some coins but want to wear my precious metals

I bought myself a few gold chains at my local coin shops. I wear these when traveling. To have some wealth with me that was not obvious to the personel at different travel check points. It's universally accepted & considered normal to wear jewelry but not normal to travel with bullion, especially gold coins.

You are probably better off looking at your local coin shops that buy gold & silver scrap (unwanted or broken jewelry). I've gotten good deals comparable in cost to buying gold coins.

Some coin shops will sell silver or gold chains by metal weight. A regular jewelry shop typically marks their jewelry (chains, rings, etc) up about 300% by weight. And you also have to pay retail sales tax. But typically not when buying bullion. Since the coin shop bought it by the weight, they sold it to me by the weight, a little higher than he would get from his melt buyer (refiner/foundry).

If you buy a chain or ring from a coin shop you should get a MUCH better deal (closer to spot price).

Another option, most online bullion dealers also sell chains & bracelets by weight.
