My beliefs are not going to help your debate with your friend. You see an atheist wants evidence… and there is no objective evidence for the existence of god. Love, however, can be demonstrated to exist by choosing to practice it.

If the existence of love cannot be accepted as an objective fact, then there is no basis to ask the question “what causes it”… much less the very complicated questions about theological doctrines about heaven or hell…
