I always thought the stealing thing is bullshit. Everybody steals. Hitchcock, Kubrick, and Scorsese get away with it because they don’t write their own stuff. It’s rather the techniques that they are copying instead. They will see a technique that someone else did and figure out how to incorporate it in a different way that they think goes well with a particular scene theyre shooting. You can call that art but I don’t see how that’s any different than what Tarantino doing. Yeah there’s been a lot of plagiarism from him, but that’s really the only way to come up with a story. The ideas have to stem from somewhere. He’s just collaging stories together to make a better one.
