This is where it ends for me. My mid-fi collection after following this sub for little over a year.

Journey Before I joined this sub I exclusively used airpods on the go and cheap wireless headphones for my PC. Then I discovered this community. My first acquisition were the HD6XX. I was lucky to get them since the massdrop warehouse in Europe closed a while later. I also ordered the Marantz HD-DAC1, mainly because at the time I didn't want two weird boxes on my desk when there is the option to just have one.

After a while I went on to buy the Audeze LCD-2, since I was curious about the "planar bass" everyone here was excited about. Half a year later I ordered the HD800S because I wanted to experience the amount of detail and soundstage that everyone here was praising.

My last insane purchase were the IER-Z1R. Stumbled across them here a couple of times but the reason I went for them was crinacles ranking list and the video he made on them.

Opinions The HD6XX remain my most used pair. This is mainly because they are simply the most comfortable headphones I possess. The HD800S are often praised for their comfort but I find their clamp force to be too low, making them sit somewhat insecurely on my head. So, when I am on the PC and I am not listening to music exclusively I use the headphones that are the most comfortable.

I use the LCD-2 and the HD800S for exclusively listening to music on the PC. Which one I choose is a bit genre (and temperature) dependent. I like the HD800S for classical music, choir, pop/dreampop/shoegaze whereas the LCD-2 are fun for rap, EDM and so on.

My favourite sounding pair however are the IER-Z1R. These things are mind-blowing and if it weren't for the better comfort of over-ear-headphones and other IEM-related disadvantages (ear wax and so on) I would sell all my other pairs and exclusively use those jewels.

Well, thanks for reading. I think this is where the journey ends for me. For now. Maybe I'll reach for the Focal Utopia in a couple years but for the past year I had these head/earphones I was completely satisfied. Thanks to you all for providing so much valuable information through this subreddit. It is a pleasure to be a part of this community, even though I have to read the term "burn in" here sometimes. :-D
