Where is the leadership?

Speaking of overly-dramatic, Serena repeatedly devolves into this kind of unsportsmanlike behavior. It's inexcusable. When she had a grievance, she should have dropped it until after the match and taken it up with the proper authorities, but she took it personally.

Verbal abuse and racquet abuse have become increasingly common, and it's time for that to change too. For it to surface in the final makes it that much worse, and I would hope that US Open and USTA double down on the umpire's decisions to penalize her behavior.

What I was supposed to have seen in Osaka's press conference? She's a gracious winner. Serena, by contrast, doesn't bother to compliment Osaka's play and talks instead about being "humble." Yeah, right. This whole situation could have been avoided with some humility.
