Which brings in more profit? International or domestic recognition?

definitely international, groups that are bigger internationally tend to have more album sales than groups that are only known in korea. being known in korea does help with charting but you don’t really earn much off of digitals unless you participated in writing the song because you get royalties.

another thing is tours, touring isn’t really a thing in korea like kpop groups will usually do a show in seoul and that’s about it. but groups famous internationally can do world tours that bring in profit from tickets and merch sales.

even if they’re not bts level of famous internationally, they’d definitely gain a lot more from having a larger intentional fanbase than domestic
