Which country, that you’ve visited, gave you the biggest culture shock and why?

Bangladesh.

I've lived in the UK my entire life but my parents are second generation immigrants who went to the country in the late 70s.

The first absolute major culture shock was when we got to the airport in Bangladesh and had to stand in the "Foreign Passport" line. Very quickly made me realise that we're foreigners in our own country. It's not something I ever thought of before. The second was how differently they speak there. My 5 year old cousin spoke my mother tongue better than I did. I had no idea my language was as complicated as it was. No Bangladeshi in London speaks in such a complex manner.

In Britain we're foreigners because of our skin colour. In Bangladesh were foreigners because we're British. That's a shock I'm still trying to get to over.
