Which country would you most like to visit? Redditors from that country, what should they do while there?

Aussie in the tourism industry here. keep in mind is a big country, with most of the major cities/attractions having a lot of space in between them. Hiring a car and Driving is worth it, but it takes way more time. I'll try list everything.

Qld is the best for a touristy destination. Cairns is a must for anyone visiting Australia, as is doing a tour around the Great Barrier Reef. Staying on islands up here is very very expensive and not that developed, except really for Hamilton Island, so honestly I'd skip it. Being up in cairns will also give you access to indigenous tourism, which is great way to see the bush. Try and organise a tour with an experienced operator, they can show you the outback. The Gold Coast is another area up there great for touristy stuff. Theme parks, nightlife, crowded beaches and cheap souvenirs. Standard commodified tourist trap. Cairns is the must see in qld.

Sydney is the major destination. A city that is hard to travel around, I would recommend staying somewhere around darling harbour. Based from here, you can travel by ferry around the harbour, climb the bridge (Google it, awesome), see the opera house, shop throughout the city, dine at amazing restaurants, see a gig or play. For beaches, I would recommend catching the ferry over to Manly (don't bother with Bondi) and visit the north shore. Also while you're in Sydney, you MUST go to the blue mountains. Amazing place, must see natural scenery. You can drive, hike or go on a tour.

Canberra is the capital of Aus, in between melb/Sydney. Worthy of a day maximum to see the War Memorial, National museum, National Museum and Parliament House. Then go somewhere else before you get too bored.

From Sydney, you should then head to Melbourne. Melbourne is a great city which is much easier to walk around.Spend the day walking the city and seeing the sights, catch a ferry to St Kilda, get to Lygon St for some great Italian charm, or anywhere else for great food and coffee. A must for Melbourne is going to a sporting match at the MCG if you can, it is one of the best sporting grounds in

The Victorian high country is a great day trip drive from Melbourne, where you can see how convicts lived, hear stories of bushrangers and meet animals etc. each town is different. Google it. Leaving Melbourne, I would suggest a drive down the great ocean road. Honestly, this is another must. Plenty of awesome places to stop on the way.

Then you'll end up in Adelaide. A smaller city, you want to drive out the many towns surrounding the city. It's wine country, so go visit vineyards and have lunch. You can also get to the Murray river from here, which is sweet. Beautiful. Also visit the beach at Glenelg, it's nice. Don't stay in Adelaide too long, you'll get murdered. Honestly, Adelaide isn't a must see, but it is nice place to finish after the great ocean road.

If you want to see crocodiles, go to Darwin. It's shit though. Katherine/Kakadu is beautiful, though very hard to get to? I'd suggest a tour group. Honestly, I think there's better things to do than visit the Northern Territory unless you have more than a month and plenty of cash.

Don't bother with Perth, it's basically another country. If you do though, go to Little creatures Brewery and do as any Aussie would do, get pissed as fuck and wonder why all the shops close on the weekends.

Tl/dr - must sees are Carins/barrier reef, Sydney to climb the bridge and see the sights, blue mountains, Melbourne for footy at the MCG, great ocean road and Victorian high country.
