Which team will underachieve the most next year? Overachieve?

ALL of The following events must happen for Tennessee to make the Playoff. (which is what MOARFumapuma considers overacheiving) I don't expect us to accomplish all four goals next season, and think

1 Beat Florida - It just has to happen for Tennessee to ever be taken seriously by the majority of casual fans. As long as we continue to lose to them year after year we will be the butt of many a joke and will never be seen as any kind of legitimate threat in the grand scheme of things. True, Tennessee can get to the SECCG without beating them (and has done so in the past) but the legitimacy of them representing the East will be disputed if they do, and I don't see us beating the West representative if we can't beat Florida.

2 Make an SECCG Appearance - just get there. Accomplishing goal #1 will highly increase our odds of accomplishing goal #2. But not 100% required.

3 Beat Alabama - Either in the regular season or the SECCG.Tennessee is at a disadvantage compared to other schools. In order for us to ever make the Playoff we would have to most likely play Bama twice to get there. (no offense other SEC West teams, but they have represented your division 5 of the last 8 years in the title game and don't look like they're going away any time soon.) We would have to either win both times, or in the SECCG with a regular season loss to them being our only loss of the season. This is honestly the most difficult milestone to pass. Once we can do this people will really start to take us seriously as a team.

4 Win the SECCG - Can possibly happen the same time we accomplish goal #3. The most likely scenario I see is us losing to Alabama in the regular season, but winning in a rematch in the SECCG. This of course would be an earth-shattering event and put Tennesee in the playoff picture.

Tennessee will have "overacheived" if they accomplish just one of the goals. I think winning the East or coming in 2nd in a tight race with Georgia and Florida is par for the course. Finishing anything less than 3rd in the East would be underachieving.
