While other cities pledge funding cuts to police forces, Chicago more hesitant

I think all Police should have body cams, but I haven't made up my mind on how to properly use them. I agree that all our interactions with the public should be recorded, and they should be able to be accessed by the public through the freedom of information act. At the same time, I don't want my bosses making fun of me when I'm singing to the spice girls on a 90s station at 0300 when I'm delerious and tired. I'll leave that to the professionals. I don't think I'm qualified to make policies on that.

The Union protects shit cops. They do. No doubt. They also prevent my Deputy Chief from suspending me because I didnt make enough traffic contacts because his request was unreasonable, and I disagree with enforcing an arbitrary variable. This is where independent oversight committees and state licenses come in. Unions can handle the in house shit, but if there's misconduct unbecoming of a police officer, that needs to be punted to the state level.
