Your link is very nice and a good summary of what happened. I followed the events of GamerGate at first and dropped off with everything that has happened this year.
To me a lot of that timeline are stretches like the "Daily Dose" shirt it seems like people are just doing what they always do on the internet and IRL, looking fro connections that aren't there (the people on IRC). Also harassment against Sarkesian because many of those harassment pictures were shown to have only be able to be made by her additionally they made strange references like to the Montreal massacre. I saw a thread on /pol discussing it and no one has ever heard of it. None of my friends either accept for a few SJW types heard of it.
Additionally I see the point that the timeline is trying to make that GamerGate did not start out about ethics. But consider the relationships Quinn had and their ties to the industry. Their are numerous instances of this corruption of Freezeit. I agree with you click bait isn't the biggest issue in journalism and maybe conflicts of interest aren't either. But all of these conflicts of interest they have discovered are they not at the least bit noticeable.
Look it's clear to me that you and I have different interests. I don't fully buy the GamerGate narrative but I most certainly do not buy the GamerGhazi narrative. Most people that I know are not offended by this and we are getting tired of the constant idea policing. The Mod was is his right and KiA was in there right to get mad and vote brigade. I used to be very liberal but then one day as a half black male everything changed. I suddenly had half-white privilege and male privilege. Words like racism and sexism no longer meant what they meant. I could no longer speak without addressing my privileges. Honestly I am beginning to think that this current social justice ideology was just created to stop the left from any meaningful progress like what happened at Occupy Wallstreet.
GamerGate may be a mess but having read the evidence from both sides will choose GamerGate over GamerGhazi purely on the issue of freedom. This site used to be very libertarian and for the most part it still is don't be surprised that more than just KiA thinks that this is ridiculous.
