White House walks back promise about Trump donating his ‘personal money’ to Harvey victims

He could put the money through the foundation. It's not hard. Tons of people do it with their foundations all the time. Bill Gates for example, Hillary Clinton for example. <

I don't really understand how the extra step could benefit him, but that would be using his personal money to fulfill the pledge in my book. The concern with using foundation money as it currently stands is that most if not all of the current funds in the foundation were not donated by Trump himself, so to use these to fulfill his pledge would be a hollow gesture.

You have no idea if he is going to donate yet or not.

I imagine he will. The question is whether or not he will write the check using his own personal money or foundation money donated by other people. Based on historical precedent, I'm assuming it will probably be the latter since he has a long and sordid history of pledging money to people and then getting someone else to foot the bill for him.

Trump didn't back track, and all she said was she didn't know. Which even then does not equate to Trump back tracking.

Correct. It is Sarah Huckabee Sanders who backtracked, not Trump himself. Yesterday she said she spoke to Trump directly and that he was definitely going to be using his own personal money, today she said she had not yet had a chance to speak to him and wasn't sure whether he was going to use personal money or not. Perhaps this is a result of Trump backtracking himself, or perhaps Sanders lied about having had the original conversation.
