A White Nationalist Who Hates Jews Will Be Trump's Right-Hand Man In The White House

Thanks. My user name was somewhat inspired by the fact I'm a transwoman and I don't have wide hips.

I don't like the term SJW. It has been directed at me on many occasions. Just the fact I express a want to see more representation, more body types, more women, more LGBT people, more people of color. People on the alt-right have used this terms countless times to insult me and people like me. Anyone on the left or supportive of social justice at all.

As someone who supports social justice, having angry alt-righters always calling the things I believe in something that makes me and others an "awful feminazi SJW" is more than a little bit frustrating and irritating.

I will at least admit though there there are toxic and nasty parts of the social justice movement. And I think that the important part of improving things is to have open conventions where we listen and learn from each other and challenge our beliefs. That's how we can grow as a social justice movement, by critically thinking, listening and learning.

The social justice movement of the future will probably be different than the social justice movement of today. And we'll probably look back on the past and see bigoted or at least problematic beliefs that we had. Wondering how our worldview and attitude could have been so flawed. And the sooner we open our minds, the sooner we will get there.

As for callout culture, I think that there is reason for it in moderation. You do need to call a bigot a bigot and problematic behavior out on being problematic. But we need to be a culture founded on empathetic growing together as human beings, rather than shame. And some people are clearly taking things too far and becoming extremely aggressive.

The problem is that too many people feel free to attack, but not enough feel the need to be introspective, which is much harder.

And there is a time to attack and call someone out on their problematic behavior. And a time to move forward and forgive, seeing that someone is showing the opportunity to grow and change for the better. If you attack and call out when someone is clearly showing an ability and opportunity to better themselves, then that opportunity may be lost, they'll dig in their heels, be stubborn, and not grow at all.

We want to bring people in to social justice and be a welcoming place and movement that betters the world, not drive people away.
