Soooo... you appreciate their service but also blame them for serving you? Your statement reminds me of people who blow up on government 5 to 9 workers when they get told that if they have a problem with a policy they need to contact their congress person because that government worker has no power other than to enforce the thing you think is unfair.

In the United States, unlike nations like China, we the people are responsible for choosing our political leadership and at the end of the day cannot pretend that we did not collectively play a part in the direction they take our nation. We are a democratic representative republic and we the people choose our political leadership that has the executive and legislative authority. Public servants (which includes military members) are obligated to follow and enforce those laws, mandates, and orders created for them by our democratically elected political leadership. This is what makes something a lawful order, the fact that it is carrying out the legislative and executive mandates created by the American people through their chosen political representatives.
