Who else learned this the hard way

Commenting about how unfair the legal system is seems to always leads to someone bringing up black crime statistics and yes numbers are facts. But not one person ever has an answer for my rebuttal which is how did it get like this? How did black people go from peaceful MLK protest and singing blues, to drug related and other violent crimes?

I feel it is important to understand why minorities have a much higher prison occupancy than their white counterparts instead of just spewing that they do.

The answer is because the government placed drugs in minority neighborhoods during the 80’s and then passed the war on drugs making it easy to arrest those minorities who began using.

The first person to make the accusation was journalist Gary Webb. Back in 1996, Gary Webb of the San Jose Mercury News broke a story stating not only that the Nicaraguan Contras – supported by the United States in a rebellion against their left-leaning government – were involved in the US crack cocaine epidemic of the 1980s, but also that the CIA knew and turned a blind eye to the operation. The drugs were spread through out the black community in LA causing a massive spike in crime and arrests. When he first wrote the story he was bashed by every media outlet and ultimately 'committed suicide' in 2004 after being forced out of journalism.

Today it is less opinionated and more of a fact that the CIA knew of and assisted operations. Since 2004, many have come forth to back up Webb's claim and now a documentary and a film have been made because of it said forth coming.

Don't Kill the Messenger is a film released in 2014, it gives vivid detail of who, what, when, where, why when it comes to the issue discussed above, and even has big named actors. Personally im suprised the powers allowed it to be made, it’s very revealing.

This documentary is more of a personal story telling one of what happened during the drug boom from the perspectives of many who were involved. As well as what was going on in politics during the entire ordeal and how they were clearly connected.
