Who here owns a gun in nj?

NJ has very strict self defense laws, in law it is partial duty to retreat. This means that unless you have no way of running away from someone who presents eminent threat to you, you can use self-defense, but you will be arrested and the judge and jury will decide if you followed the duty to retreat law. There is no property defense laws. A NJ FID will take 1-14 months, it requires fingerprints which are generally 65 dollars, fill out a mental health check forum where depending on the town doesn't matter or any mention of feeling like you have ADD can get you denied, 3 references of good moral standing, and a lot of towns call your boss. Now some towns add on to this, in my town I had to meet with a detective for a interview, have a notarized note sent to myself and then handed to a detective and I had to have my renter's agreement also. It took months for my FID, and takes many months for my pistol stamps every time I apply for them. My fire department sisters fire company's chief was denied a FID, and two retired police officers I know as well as a active duty Marine have been denied. Unless you know you are going to get it, as in a decently clean driving record, no record of anything in terms of crimes committed, and no mention of any mental health issue, I would not apply, because a lot of states ask if you have been denied a firearm purchase before and NJ denies, I forget the exact number but it is around 30 percent, there is not a single state, nor with the national instant background check that goes above 10 percent.
