Public health communication is all about sending a single message in that moment. It's called "SOCO (Single Overriding Communication Objective)".

It doesn't matter if there is nuance or complexity, you say what you need to get people to feel or behave in a certain way. That is why WHO, Fauci, Adams, or any public health official will never apologize for overly simplistic or misleading advice. They are doing exactly what they were trained to do.

The pandemic is still killing millions of people, but the new SOCO is that the pandemic is over, so that is what they are saying. Likely they don't have the resources to help, so there is no use in trying to pretend they are working on it.
