Look who is one of us.

The discussion should have been put to bed decades ago, because the explanation was written on the script for ANH.

Han is lying. And not convincingly. Han did not make the Kessel Run in 12 parsecs, because that's not a thing that even makes sense. Parsecs are a measure of distance, but that's the kind of mistake that some boastful scumbag criminal like Han would make. It's characterization for Han.

You can tell in the acting, Obi-Wan can tell he's lying, but Luke can't, characterizing Obi-Wan as more experienced with the wider galaxy than you'd expect from some desert hick, but Luke's completely and totally unaware.

Apparently it was also written (in handwriting) on Peter Mayhew's copy of the script that Chewbacca would kind of... not be a huge fan of Han getting a little carried away here, and try and nudge him back on course? I don't see it, though.

It's kind of weird to me that Solo made it about navigation instead of just leaving it as is, especially because it's clear in the scene they're talking about speed. Because they say that they're talking about speed.
