Roy feels like the lord most people say is boring or just average but I dont think people realize how young he is in game. He was so young he was still at the age were you just kind of parrot what your parents say and try to follow in someone else's footsteps. That's why I like him so much though, you gradually see him growing up at such a young age because he starts to realize what others tell him isnt always right. Then he gets his super late game promotion and is also dont maturing, as far as the game is concerned at least. I find it to be a really good growing up story. Most of his hate also comes from game difficulty and his awful moves in melee. Cant defend those unfortunately
