To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand XXXTENTACION. The lyrics are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical edge most of the bars will go over a typical listener's head. There's also XXXTentacions's pretentious outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Emo literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these lyrics, to realize that they're not just shallow- they say nothing in particular. As a consequence people who dislike XXXTentacion truly ARE normies- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in X's existencial catchphrase "I'll fuck your underage sister in the throat" which itself is a cryptic reference to 8 year olds on Xbox live. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as X's genius unfolds itself in their headphones. What fools... how I pity them.
