Who was a Sega Genesis/Sonic fan during the SNES era and the infamous console wars of the '90s?

I had all three, SNES, Genesis, and TG-16.

When Sonic first came out, I remember being instantly in love with it. The bright colors, the SPEED (which was beyond fast for those days), the branching paths to the exit, even Sonic's little foot tap when you left the controller idle. Eventually it became obvious that Sonic wasn't better than Mario, they were just different platformers.

As for which was the best system? They all were. Console exclusives weren't as hyped then as they are now, but there were a lot more of them on all sides. Even games like Jurassic Park, which today would be virtually identical on every platform, were entirely different games. But you had things like Mortal Kombat where the SNES had better graphics, but the Genesis had actual blood (SNES had sweat).

Genesis seemed to have the disadvantage once the SNES was released, but it always had an incredibly diverse lineup of games. SNES had Mode 7 and better visuals (most of the time), but it was very 'sterile'. Not in a bad way, but it's almost like Genesis catered to an indie feel where SNES was mostly AAA. TG-16 was over there doing it's own thing, and for an 8-bit console, I think it did it pretty well.

I never could pick one over the other, but there were times when one console had strengths play out more than the other. In the end, SNES is the one I love the most, but I still have my Genesis and still won't part with either system.
