Who is the strangest person you’ve ever met?

I came here to say this! I have worked in mental health for 10 yrs now, on both the medical and the "social work" side; and MR is the ACTUAL MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS written in patient charts. When speaking to other nurses, therapists, etc this is how we refer to the condition. In fact i just had a meeting today with the therapist and psychiatrist at my company regarding one of my clients (whom they also both treat, all of us in different roles) who is 23 and mentally retarded. We referred to the patient's disorder as Retardation or MR the entire time (as we always do). Also in any scholarly article ive read, Mental Retardation is (almost always) the ONLY term used. When talking with patients about their diagnosis, we use this term and (try to) make sure they grasp what it means; we do this so they can understand what their actual medical diagnosis is, how it happened (birth injury, seizures, injury, etc) and how it will likely impact them, as well how they will hear other people (doctors, nurses, counselors, case workers) describe it, because understanding their impairment is the first step to effectively managing it, and also so they can ask questions of their medical, psych, and case management staff and be better able to (mostly) understand the answers. When day to day talking/ working with clients, we usually will use more euphemistic terms- Ex.: "I think your disability may make provp challenging
