People who find this funny are the kind who have never been put into a dangerous and unexpected situation by a stranger in real life before. They don’t understand what it’s like to deal with that sort of situation and not have it just be a “joke”.

When I was younger I found this humor funny, even pulled pranks like this on friends. But since then I’ve had a number of close calls with strangers including incidents that resulted in people dying around me and the trauma never goes away. Knowing what it’s like on the other side when it doesn’t end up being a joke keeps me from finding these funny anymore. I sympathize with what it feels like to not know for a brief while if you’re gonna live or die. Causing people to feel that way isn’t funny.
