I'm not normally one to believe in 'fate' and that sort of thing, but sometimes it's like the world pushes people together.

Last year I started chatting with a dude on reddit who I had stuff in common with. He invited me to his Discord server, and we chatted even more there. In doing so, I learned that he lived about a half an hour away from where my parents live, half the country away.

About six months later, we made plans to meet up while I was visiting my parents. We had a good time, and continued to chat daily on Discord.

This entire time, my mom had been trying to get me to move out to where they were living. I had refused because I was in what I thought was a happy relationship, and my girlfriend didn't want to move. Shortly after I got back from visiting my parents, my girlfriend of over three years broke up with me. I made the decision that very day to move to join my parents.

Now that we're in the same state, and can see each other regularly, the guy I randomly met online has become my absolute best friend. Never in my life have I had a friend like him. And to think, we might never have become such good friends if it were not for the events that led up to us meeting.
