So, who's in a hagwon situation that sucks so bad it'll make me feel better about my own?

I'm just going to lay it on again for you ESL people. I know this is not popular. Hagwon's are going to continue to go down the slide because of several reasons.

One: declining population with number of kids becoming less and less.

Two: with declining number of kids, there will be declining number of public and private tutoring schools that you can find jobs in.

Three: increasing competition from your fellow foreigners, with more foreigners entering Korea, for the increasingly limited number of positions.

Four: slowing of Korean economy, with stagnating incomes, followed by more Koreans struggling to find good paying jobs, which leads to cutbacks (yes private education is the last thing to be cut back in Korean households, but when you the money for rent, you'll cut back too)

Five: as hagwon's struggle financially, they're going to ask you for longer work hours, they'll cap off your pay, they'll ask you to do things that you weren't hired to do, they'll get suddenly stingy on payday, and on and on with problems after another.

Summary: the future of private education, unless there's a large influx of kids coming from somewhere (and unless the Korean economy turns around), the future of Korean education industry is very bleak.

Either you adapt, or you find something else to do. I know this is going to be unpopular, but I'm just laying it like it is.
