WIBTA for kicking out my maid of honor because I didn't make the cut for her wedding?

NAH as stated already weddings are hard especially if you have to cut family and friends out for reasons out of your own control

We’re getting married in 2 weeks time, we didn’t know until this morning whether or not we would be allowed a reception at all (UK based)

We have invited immediate family - none of the extended family (aunts and uncles etc) or friends, or bridesmaids even know we’re still going through with the wedding, as far as they are aware we’re getting married in 2022. We have our reasons.

My point is we have 15 guests, all family apart from 2 which are our friends. Basically we wanted these 2 friends specifically to be our witnesses. The one of these friends was asked to be a bridesmaid, theres 2 other bridesmaids who don’t know we’re getting married still. We had to make the cuts to reduce the numbers, and we chose the 2 friends based on the fact they’re a married couple who are our joint friends, the other bridesmaids wouldn’t be our joint friends

You might be upset by not making the top 5, but were the other invited friends joint friends? Do they know the family who were attending the wedding? There will be additional reasons that your friend clearly doesnt feel comfortable saying out loud. Maybe your friend has done something similar to us, we made our cuts by what fits us and the family attending best. We’re waiting for the awkward conversations in the future, and any fallout will tell us who actually has our best interests at heart
