WIBTA for shitting on my parents’ parenting?

It’s unclear from the post if OP lives with their parents when they go to school or not, but if they are in lockdown mode and OP leaves... they aren’t coming back in till this is all over with most likely. If the parents are paying for school and oppose them going back... they probably aren’t paying for it. If they live with their parents while going for school... then the parents will likely insist they move out.

These are just realities of life in lockdown mode. You’re either in or out, right? It’s not a great situation for anyone.

While OP sounds like they are lucky enough to live in one of the few places still opening up a bit it’s almost certain their area will see a resurgence and additional lockdowns. It’s also almost a given at this point that most schools will end up delayed or cancelled as cases surge alongside the flu in fall. If OP doesn’t have somewhere else to live or the ability to provide for themselves (rent, food, etc) then they should think very carefully about leaving as their safety net may not be available.

Nobody wants to make these decisions, least of all with families, but I’m just trying to provide the perspective the parents will likely have so OP can be prepared for where the convo might go. It’s a genuinely tough situation from all sides. I’m not sure OP understands their parent’s position all that well, at least from their perspective. They are also incredibly lucky to be able to be quarantined and having everything provided for them. That’s not what most are facing.
