He doesn't work, they pay for everything for the household now, he didn't tell his boss to qualify for FMLA leave and got fired, he won't apply for disability, he is in recovery and does not have cancer any longer, and he begged them to move in with him in the first place. The couple is 20 years old.

I think people are being distracted from some pretty clear neglect and every other detail of the situation by the cancer element and by the fact that OOP is portraying her FIL as lazy.

Tthe father left his daughter in a soiled diaper for hours. If he didn't happen to have family live with him, he would still need to do these things even though he's sick.

Again, he begged them to move in, they pay for everything, he doesn't work, he doesn't pay bills, he refuses alternatives to help him financially, he is no longer sick and has not been for months. Yes it is fair that OOP doesn't want to be free child care to the extent the child thinks she's her mother, and apparently the other SIL already treated her as a mother figure which she was uncomfortable with. First time 20 year old parents, who are paying for the whole household's life, are now put in a position where they can't save to leave because they are financially supporting everyone, and frankly being pregnant and having a newborn is also stressful, and where the person who is not working is taking care of FIL, their baby, and 2 SiL's...come on. The sympathy here has been spread entirely in one direction.
