wife and I are on 2 different insurance plans; just starting, not sure where to start, system seems broke.

I'm also in the Bay Area.... Kaiser had a ridiculously long wait time to be seen (if IUI/IVF is needed). We were w/ Kaiser & had all the req labs/procedures + semen analysis there (I think that's all you will initially need from your end). Found out I had silent endo & req surgery , IVF was recommended prior to doing so.

Kaiser covers testing +IUI for almost everyone, not many qualify for IVF. We switched insurance & are also now w/ Stanford (PPO). We went out of network bc I wanted to be seen by Dr. Aimee Eyvazzadeh. She is AMAZING and do not regret my decision one bit. Look her up, her reviews speak for themselves. She has a long wait list , but worth it. We sent her office our test results. If anything is missing she'll order it.

She does not take insurance for IVF, but you get a "super bill" at the end you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement. She also connected my with my surgeon, Dr. Claire Serrato who was able to excise all of my endo, saving my fallopian tubes! I am forever indebted to these two doctors.
