Do you think the Wikitravel article on your home state is accurate?

The article on Louisiana is very accurate, apart from a couple of things that are more semantics than anything.

French was discouraged by non-Louisianans when the federal government stepped in to get Louisiana on the same English speaking page as the rest of the country. Discouraged is a very soft word to use, also -- they beat children, among other inhumane treatment, to force them to speak English.

Cajun French IS a distinct dialect, but it's not that hard for native French speakers from Paris to understand. Semantics again, it's more or less an old version of French. In fact, many native French speakers hold a conversation very well with native Cajun French speakers.

Nitpicking, otherwise it's accurate.
