I had a similar experience just last week in the restaurant industry. A server of mine has shown red flags of being in an abusive relationship. I have been keeping a close eye on the situation but with nothing happening at my restaurant I can't really say or do anything. Until he kept calling the store over and over. I picked it up three times in a row with just background noise and kid chatter so I hung up each time. On the fourth time I picked it up and a gentleman started screaming at me that I hung up on his kids that were trying to get a hold of their mom. After a few seconds it dawned on me who it was. He proceeded to cuss me out and threaten to come up to the store to beat me up and he " knew what car I drove." I had no idea what provoked him and I didn't know who it was. I spoke to the server who I suspected has an abusive relationship and she confirmed it was her bf. I instantly called the cops and filed a report. Once he called the store and threatend me it became a matter of safety not only for myself but the staff. There is a line we can't ignore. If it is a matter of saftey by all means get it on record and talk to the police.
