Will a faith-based film hurt a career?

I’m glad this came up, I feel validated right now. My parents were PISSED OFF at me that I turned down a decently-paid project years ago that turned out to be a poorly written, “Christian” film with a heavy handed anti-gay message. I’m so glad I read the script, it was complete garbage and I noped out of there after finally reading the full script. My parents are still to this day pissed off that I “wasted my time” and didn’t just take the role, saying “WELL, just because you don’t believe in the message doesn’t matter, do you think that people who play murderers in movies condone murder?” ...??!

Some days it felt like I was taking crazy pills. Thank you for reminding me that I did the right thing.
