Will Funcom release any new big patches for AO?

It's already been mentioned, but here is the quote from the recently released Q4 2016 financial report, which most have interpreted as meaning "maintenance mode" or "nothing more to see here" for AO as we know it:

For Anarchy Online, the Item Store was revamped, a Winter celebration and a Christmas sale event were launched, several bugs and exploits were fixed and the game was released on Steam. No further significant work is expected to be done on this project going forward.

However, they also said these things in the report:

Leveraging and growing the internal Intellectual Properties such as Anarchy Online, The Longest Journey and The Secret World for both internal and 3rd party licensing for both games and other non-interactive entertainment.

The trend of slowly declining revenues on the current Live Game portfolio is expected to continue as in previous quarters due to the ageing of the games. The relaunch of The Secret World might temporarily have a positive impact on this trend short term. The Company will continue to support the current Live Games as long as they continue to contribute positively to the Company’s results.

They also refer to having two new games under development, one of which is another Conan game (delayed by work on Conan Exiles), and the other which is unnamed. We already know about CE and TSW relaunch, and they named one of the two projects as another Conan property. So it's unclear what the other unnamed one could be.

It seems unlikely that the unnamed one is anything resembling AO2, but you never know. They do refer to continued development to "leverage" their IP, including the IP for AO, which, however, their comments suggest will not include and foreseeable continued development on the existing live game.

However, if they intend to continue running the live games, including AO, as long as they "continue to contribute positively," then, if AO is generating any income at all, presumably they might put some minimal effort to making sure the servers keep running, which could (if it is simple and cheap enough to do) include minor fixes to exploits or resurrecting the servers if they die. But if anything happens that would represent a major expense, or they're not getting enough cash flow even to keep the lights on, then it will probably be the end.
