We will never excuse and we will never forget. RIP comma and extra period.

I noticed two things:

1) An extra period at the end of the first sentence.

2) We lost the comma in the first sentence of the 5th paragraph. (Mary Wiley’s change).

Thanks, Mary

From: University Police Sent: Thursday, February 05, 2015 4:03 PM To: ALL-EMPLOYEES; ALL-STUDENTS Subject: Emergency Notification System – Important Change that Affects You

It is critical that during a possible emergency we are able to communicate to you as quickly as possible.. With that in mind, we are changing the way we enroll staff, students, and faculty to receive text messages on their mobile devices when the Emergency Notification System is used. Text messaging has been proven to be the most reliable and fastest way to get emergency information out to a large population.

On Saturday, February 7th, we will automatically enroll your currently registered mobile device number to receive emergency text messages in the event of an emergency on campus. Before February 7th you are highly encouraged to log into your MyCSULB account to add your mobile number or confirm that your correct mobile number is listed.

If you do not provide a mobile number, you will not receive Emergency Alert Text Messages during an emergency on campus.

If this is the first time your mobile number has been registered, you will receive the following message on Saturday, February 7th:

“CSULB BEACHALERT: You are subscribed to receive text alerts. Reply HELP for help, STOP CSULB to cancel. Msg&data rates may apply.”

You are highly encouraged not to STOP (Opt-Out) when you receive that message because if you do you will NOT receive emergency text notification messages during an emergency. Auxiliary employees and other community members who do not have access to MyCSULB, please contact your area HR representative to find out how to add your mobile number to the system.

For more information, detailed instructions, and answers to frequently asked questions please go here: CSULB BeachALERT Emergency Notification System.

We will still use the system to send voice and email notifications, but these methods typically take longer to send than text messaging, which is why we are moving forward with this expanded approach.

Thank you for taking the time to ensure you are committed to staying informed and prepared.

Go Beach!
