I will be sharing my journey with modified caveman regimen (not washing face) for next 2 months

Alot of people are going to give you a hard time about this but this is exactly what I did and the results have been tremendous. I usually don't even comment on threads, more of a lurker but I thought I would share my experience.

I've had the same trials and difficulties as you, growing up I had super clear Complexion (I'm a male as well) and never cared to even take care of my face. The first time I noticed any sort of acne on my face I was a freshman in college and I slathered my brothers epiduo all over my face in attempts to eradicate it. As you can guess it didn't go over so well, from then I've basically tried every face wash, moisturizer, sunscreen, prescription, vitamins, you name it I've tried it all short of accutane. Been to a couple derms followed their instructions as close as possible and acne never went away.

Fast forward to three years ago my skin really didn't seem that bad. And funny how life is, I started following this subreddit religiously, I went and bought all the recommended products (I hate you, cerave) and spent the next year basically ruining my face and being in denial (there's no way "gentle" products could do this to my face?). I also had a bad picking problem that I'm still paying for in scars and hyperpigmentation today. I graduated college and was super depressed about my face (I hate admitting it) and spent the next 6 months as a basement dweller in my mom's house. I rarely went outside and obsessed over my skin. I would spent literally every 20 minutes looking in the mirror as if it would.magically disappear :/

This leads to now, current day, I haven't used any products since January and I literally can count the number of pimples I've had since then (zero!). I don't do the real caveman routine as in, I do wash my face (only the water that touches it in the shower, I never over do it or scrub). And splash My face with water in the morning. no cleanser, no moisturizer, no sunscreen, no prescriptions, just water. One thing I will note is I do exfoliate manually with a konjac type sponge about once a week and very lightly, then run warm water over my face. People on here generally say that chemical exfoliation is far superior but that is not the case for me, my skin loves physical exfoliation and ALWAYS gets irritated with AHA or BHAs (don't get me started on retin-a).

Moral of the story is, everyone's skin is different. If you've literally tried what seems just about everything then I don't see how this could hurt, especially if it ends up working for you. I would recommend it but just to pay attention to your skin and do a modified version of the caveman routine. hope this helps.

and damn I typed up a novel.
