I like Will Smith and his movies, but I think most of us can agree that he is not the right person for the genie. Hear me out.

The problem imo is that he inserts himself into every character he plays, like in suicide squad. Is he dead shot? Nope just will Smith as an assassin. Bright, is he an original/creative character? Nope, just will Smith as a cop in a fantasy world. After earth? Basically Will Smith as an army commando.

Again, I love his earlier works, and In HIS stand alone movies it’s fine because they’re (mostly) original concepts and characters so he can do whatever the fuck he wants with them, but thr genie can’t in this remake can’t just be magical Will Smith who can grant wishes, it has to be the genie we all Grew up loving.

If anything I wouldn’t mind seeing jack black as a genie.
