If you want to be away from people in the summer with facilities (condos, stores, bars, hotels etc) and hiking/biking type stuff to do, you want to head to a ski resort.

Whistler is an obvious choice($), but Sun Peaks, Big White, Silverstar, Kicking Horse would all be good cheaper choices.

My personal recommendation is Sun Peaks. Fly to Kamloops, bus up the hill. Pick one of the weekends with a free concert (Big Sugar in July I think). Hotels will be dirt cheap. Lift accessed hiking is cheap. Farmer's markets on the weekends. Some simple touristy stuff to do like canoe rentals, and paddle board rentals, and horse riding. Golf course. Couple lakes to swim in. Couple lakes to fish in within hiking distance. Liqour store/grocery store/few sporting goods stores but that's about it other than hotels/condos which each have a bar/restaurant.
