In all seriousness, any winter coat will do. If you want to move up north for residency, may as well spend money on a nice one as well. If you're not sure, and just want a cheaper one, then go that route.
Multi-layered is the way to go if you're planning on moving up here. Something like this would be fine, just don't wear that gray puffy thing in the fourth picture on the outside.
One thing I wouldn't forget is boots. If you get hit with snow the day of, you may want to consider wearing them if you have to walk a ways from wear you park. I have a pair like this but really any will do as long as they're water resistant. I think I found one like that for like $30 cuz it was an off brand but they work just fine.
