Mimicry is a fading trait in most dog breeds. When compared to the behavior of dogs over a century ago, modern dogs show far less of a tendency to and interest in copying human behaviors.

The suspicion is that electronics and computers have created a gap between us and our canine pals, since dogs don’t have the capacity or the thumbs to operate electronic devices, they’ve instead turned inwards and are searching for a new way to relate to and keep the favor of humans.

Studies of their brains show increased problem solving and language comprehension. Physically, their tongues are controlled by more muscle groups and their palette is changing shape and is becoming more human. We suspect that dogs will be able to speak up to 2 dozen different words in the next few years with a growing capacity to learn more. Within a century its suspected that most dogs will even have gained the ability to use enough speech commands to play rocket league or call of duty with their human masters by yelling at the TV.
