I wish I could send the rest of the messages but he deleted them. Turned him down for a date because he’s 8 years older than me and this is what I get.

I can relate to this. I got very pleasant dates when I didn't talk about money at all. In fact I insisted whenever I met a girl who fancied me - like "Oh gosh you're cute!" fancied me - that if I go out with her it would have to be split bill, and if she wants to be wined and dined in expensive restaurants and be brought gifts, she best find another guy who could do that.

But in the future, when I finally become a software engineer, it is going to be a struggle for me to hide my finances. I know that by the nature of my profession I would attract duplicitous gold-diggers faking their love for me, and then cheat on me behind my back.

I have stopped dating nowadays, and I would likely be permanently single once I become a software engineer, but that's probably for the best...
