I wish I was not of Indian descent, and instead had a cooler or more respected ethnicity, such as German or Japanese

I can asure you few germans are proud to be associated with their country. Many germans grow up with a deep sense of shame and contempt because of their history and to an extend because of current affairs. No matter how the world might view their country, it is often not easy for them to declare their country of origin when meeting people from abroad because of their own low self perception. Missing this sense of shame is often accociated with being ignorant or uneducated. All this is somewhat changing lately but in general it still holds true. (as it should be in my opinion).

Concerning the japanese: as far as i know they are still plenty disliked in large parts of asia. Especially korea and china.

I myself don't have any particular feelings about people from india. Neither good nor bad, though to be honest i've never had much contact with their culture. Of course there are the sterotypes of "loud and chaotic" and that stupid (imho) caste system but that's more about the place as a whole than individual citizens. On the other side: being the biggest democracy in the world has its perks too.

I guess your perception of how Indiens are viewed in the world is quiet US based. I don't really think much of what you wrote holds true in many other parts of the world. But that's just a gut feeling.
