I wish there were Hair Salons for customers who prefer not to talk

Try what I do. I just read from my phone. If they persist in trying to have awkward small talk, I will finally say "please forgive me, but I'm truly exhausted and just want to use this appointment time as a time to relax, thanks." I love the people who completely understand and say "hey, no worries, enjoy it and let me know if you need anything." Unfortunately, some will never catch on and will keep up with the usual: "what movies have you seen lately, what food do you like, are you married, have kids, where do you live, what's your favorite food, what do you do, where do you work?" Oh god the pain please make it stop already, you're killing me with my having to pretend I'm listening to the babble. Use the time to concentrate on the service, please.
