I wish I wasn't a dwarf.

'little man syndrome.'

Ahh little man syndrome. I have a story about that and I find it hysterical, because I'm observing it. I was in my late teens to early twenties, as was my friend Isaac. We were in the local community college taking a defensive tactics class for our criminal justice degree when this happened.

The instructor's name was Mike, and he was a police officer with the local municipality. Mike was 5'2", Isaac was 6'3". Mike would demonstrate the moves and take downs and talk about when to use them and when not. We would practice the moves, and fight among ourselves, and Mike would go around giving tips and telling us what we were doing correctly, and what to change. Isaac, like most of us, said that Mike had little man syndrome, however, Mike overheard Isaac say it.

When Mike demonstrated the moves to us, he used one of us as a test subject, and this time it was Isaac's turn. The move that Mike was showing us was a leg sweep to prone position and cuff. Mike and Isaac squared off, and Mike pulled Isaac in close, swept his legs, however Isaac resisted just a little bit, and was still standing.

This irritated Mike, but he didn't say it. Instead Mike looked at Isaac and said lets give this another go. Isaac looked smug, he pulled one over on the cop.

This time they squared off, Mike pulled Isaac in close, and swept at his legs. But this time Mike didn't go half speed, or quarter speed, he went full speed. Isaac's feet went about 5 feet up in the air, and he was completely horizontal, he seemed to float for about a half second before he fell straight down on to the mat. Isaac just layed there for a minute without moving.

Moral of this story, don't call a 5'2" 250lbs of muscle cop who drives a lifted pick up truck a little man, and then resist a move in front of a class.
