Wishing nursing education taught more of the WHYs of medical care

I think it’s probably something to do with 2 reasons: 1) Hospital care (majority of nursing work) worries more about getting the patient out of the hospital so a focus on patient education will not be necessary in acute settings. (It’s still totally necesssary, but most patients don’t want to learn in the hospital settings and would rather just get discharged, so it gets brushed over). 2) probably having to connect the dots on your own. Nursing focuses on a ton of critical thinking and what decisions to make next in a fast paced environment . You’re not going to need to know why the patient came in with XYZ until they’re stable and can give good info. Imo, terrible way to teach since most students come in not knowing how to think that way.
