The Witcher 3 continues to impress me.

They didn't give a shit about creating a well-rounded game with a decent story line, while telling everyone that Destiny was going to be much more than that. Again, they made everyone think that it was going to have a rich story and universe. They were purposefully vague and mislead everyone about the scope of the game. There were even story elements in the pre-release trailers that were cut from the final game.

And then they release a severely overpriced expansion just three months after the base game that contains just as little in the way of story.

Just because they fix certain multiplayer issues doesn't mean they should be absolved of everything else. Destiny is a game that was advertised as being much more than it was, and they didn't deliver. The story is almost nonexistent, the competitive multiplayer is completely uninspired and dull, and the core gameplay revolves around grinding.

I've played plenty of Destiny, and it's a lot of fun when you play with friends, but I'm not going to defend dishonesty from a developer that I formerly had a lot of respect for. They did just about everything that we trash other developers for. If you advertise a game as something it isn't and create a game that is a massive step back from your previous projects, you should receive backlash.

Don't accuse me of being part of some imaginary hive mind. Bungie was my favorite developer leading up to Destiny, and I am well aware that their community involvement has always been among the best, but they really messed up with Destiny. I'm not going to make excuses for them, and neither should you. If you want publishers and developers to stop fleecing their customers, then you should actually criticize them when they do so.
