With Fortnite forgoing the Play Store do you think Google will crack down on side loading apks?

Apple own's Apple products. Google doesn't own all devices with Android. Android has 85% market share (getting lower and lower in the high end, but still... Monopoly).

In theory Google can do whatever the fuck they want with the Pixel line (who cares, anyway) but they must play a different song when dealing with Android in general.

And rightfully so. This should have been done the moment it was obvious they wouldn't solve any of the big issues properly and were going for half measures (play services to tackle the update issue that only exists because of what they chose to do. It's 100% google's fault, not OEMs, not carriers... They are looking for their interests) and neglect AOSP in favor of "google".

Android has many issues. Hopefully this is a beginning of other companies being able to provide options based on Android without those issues.

What is better for Android and it's users might not be in line with what is better for Google. It's time to put that google fanboyism (that's spread around here) to rest.

It's 2018 and Samsung makes a better browser than Google, a browser that's based on an old chromium version. And Apple allows content blockers for Safari.

Think about that.
