What would be really neat is if we could use some kind of private key mechanism to encrypt RAWs. This could be optional, not required. But I envision it would work like this:

On your computer, you have a Canon or Nikon or Sony app that lets you create an encryption key. This key gets copied to your SD/CF card, and stored in multiple places so you never lose it. If your camera detects the key file on the card, it uses it to encrypt your RAW files as it writes them.

Meanwhile, your Capture One, LR, PhotoShop, etc, all will know how to take the encryption key and use it to open the raw images.

But, if someone pesters you for the raw files, you can just fork them over. Here you go. Have fun, and don't call me for help, because if you want raw, I assume you know wtf you're doing with them.
